Oh EA support

Now, don’t get me wrong – EA were by no means obliged to help me out here but, well, how they handle the conversation is laughable. Here’s a chat I just had, and like I say – they’re by no means obliged to do anything and I’m not cross at the outcome, I just find it pretty damn funny how they conduct themselves.

you:Hi
you:A while ago I got a promo code for shift 2 unleashed. The disk is starting to get read errors occasionally so I wondered if I could somehow get it added to my origin account?
you:I tried registering it as normal but it says the key is invalid
Rajeev:Hello Craig.
Rajeev:May I have your key please?
you:Sure – ****************
Rajeev:Thank you for providing me information.
Rajeev:Please allow me some time to find the information that you are looking for.
you:ok
Rajeev:Where did you purchase the game from?
you:It was a promotional copy from EA’s PR people
Rajeev:May I have your case Id from which you got your code?
you:There wasn’t a case id – it was provided as review code shortly before the games release
Rajeev:Are we still connected?
you:I can forward you the email or something?
Rajeev:I understand your concern but no one provide you code before releasing of the game.
Rajeev:I am sorry we could not provide you further assist for this code.
Rajeev:Thank you for contacting EA. Is there anything else I can help you with today?
you:They did – I do some work for games magazines
you:hold on
you:let me fully explain
Rajeev:Okay.
you:I work for a couple of games magazines. I was asked to review Shift 2 for Custom PC magazine. To do this, on the 4th of march they (EA) sent me a promotional/preview copy
you:Now, the copy still works but the disk is breaking and I’d like to continue playing the game – so getting it on my origin account would be perfect
you:If there’s any way to prove to you that this is a legitimate request then just ask
Rajeev:Please give me just a moment while I look into this further.
you:Which you can see was published on the 29th – 2 days before the game was released in the UK
you:Sorry – I know this is a bit of an odd request
you:Also – you should note that I gave it 9/10 ;-)
Rajeev:I am sorry we could not assist you further for this issue.
Rajeev:Thank you for contacting EA. Is there anything else I can help you with today?
Rajeev:If you need help with anything else, please feel free to contact us anytime!
